I just remembered this and yes i fell for it!

But my question is, how possible is it this could happen? Surely someone can convert analogue cameras to digital sooner or later?

They've done it. Digital backs are available for many medium format bodies.

The major problem of ideas such as that is that the distance from the 35mm cartridge to the film gate to the take up is not standardised. Because of this when e-film tried making a system of a digital film cartridge that slotted into the camera body about 10 years ago they had to make a different model for each camera body to fit the cameras individual dimensions (this only reached the prototype stage before it was realised the tech was not as advanced in development as the company made out and for just one camera it would cost the same or greater than a complete new DSLR). With most medium format bodies its simple as the back is replacable, I think the only 35mm camera that can be easily converted to digital is the Leica M7 as a DMR digital back was made for it.

Would love to try a digital back on my Hassy, but the cost of them is prohibitive.

Would be interesting to compare MF film and digital from the old lenses.
