DoF in the last is good, lighting picks out the texture.
Did you try back lighting with light through a leaf?

Did you try back lighting with light through a leaf?

I didn't this time, though I did on my previous attempt. Back lighting will work with a translucent leaf like a lettuce, but this savoy cabbage is very opaque and I don't think it would work. It also wasn't the look I wanted, but that's another story.
