The cold weather has pushed these into my garden for the first time in 18 years. This one looks like he might be fat enough to survive!

A slightly more flattering shot.

cracking pics.... what body/lens combo did you use as look very sharp.....

He's definately been at the birdtable a few times hasn't he!

Nice shots, lovely colour and detail (y) , put some apples out they love them.

Cheers all:)

Body and lens - Canon 400D and 200mm f2.8 lens. They are a fair crop, only about a quater of the frame.

Apples! He is eating them faster than we can!!!

Great shot! I had about 200 of these in my garden yesterday eating berries. (y)

Nice shots(y) It looks fat 'cos its fluffed up its feathers for insulation. Well done with the apples - makes all the difference in this weather:)

So many years since I saw one of these I had to look 'em up! But they were all so very fat! there were 5 of them, and I thought at first the one that caught my eye was a baby cuckoo! They were enjoying the cherries of a tree which 'til yesterday was heavily laden, and is now nearly bare. There were lots of redwings with them, and a couple of blackbirds!

What a beauty !

Lovely shot too (no way am I putting my effort up now)

Very nice - lovely detail.
