i was just wondering if anyone knew any famous photographers that took photos of the sites in london. i need it for a school project. thanks

Nick Wood is based in London but photographs world wide, although there are a few London shots on his site (y)

im more looking at famous photographers but age doesnt matter

The Sites?

Bert Hardy did a fairly well-known series round the Elephant & Castle in the early 50s

Or did you mean tourist sites/sights?

e2a: Alfred Eisenstaedt in Parliament Square, 1966

though his name doesn't seem to get mentioned as often as it did when I was young enough to be at school :cautious:

and Henri Cartier-Bresson certainly photographed London, I have some in some of my books of his. Check out the HC-B entries for London in the Magnum archive (you could probably base your whole project on just the photographers there, such as Martin Parr).

There's even an HC-B photo of a bomb site :)

It depends what you mean by sites but Tom Hunter has photographed a lot in London.

Who took the staged shot of the "milkman" walking down the bombed-out street - was that Bert Hardy?

I dunno about a bombed street, or staged.

These are the two Hardy photos of milk deliveries that I can think of, the second one in particular, both of them part of the Life At The Elephant series for Picture Post.

It was published in Jan 1949, not the early 50s as I stated earlier. :)
