Two "Scots" on a Saturday.

This Saturday saw the rare sight of two restored ex LMS "Royal Scot" locos heading north on the WCML within 30mins of each other.

The first to arrive was 46100 "Royal Scot" itself, seen here in dreadful weather in the Lune Gorge near Tebay.

Then along came 46115 "Scots Guardsman" also in the Lune Gorge and then later at Newbiggin on the Settle/Carlisle line.

They are very good, nice locations and a real feeling of speed and power.

They are all terrific images but ... don't you just hate the sight of those electrification overhead power lines in the first two? Not a criticism of your images but those cables and gantries just jar with me, I'm afraid

When Network Rail said they didn't have the money to electrify the line from Bristol Parkway to Temple Meads (which runs just a few hundred metres from my house) I was overjoyed
