Weird prop effect..........

Moisture in the air and the plane moving forwards...was it wet, or foggy?

I have the same with this, it was drizzling at the time...

25 min later, with a Spit, same spot, camera, lens, lens settings and moving forward - no such effect and I have not seen this effect before when taking this Hurricane. hence being puzzled

Thanks for the suggestion Stuart but the exhaust stack is contained within the diameter of the rotating prop and would not be picked up by the prop.

13:20, bone dry and no fog, the Spit taken 25 min later was also in the same conditions:shrug:

You are seeing the normal tip vortices caused by the high pressure side of the tip "spilling" into the low pressure side - Just the same as at wing tips. The vortices condense in humid conditions. A good non-technical explanation can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingtip_vortices

It's simply water condensing on the prop surface. It happens quite often in the UK, it being moist (to a greater extent when I take aviation photos usually!). Same principle as clouds on wings of fast moving jets.
