How much light do 27w fluorescent put out?

For that sort of money you're close to to Bowens 500R 3 head kit.

This kit contains:
2 x Super Cool-lite 5 Heads
2 x COR750 Stands
2 x 40 cm (15½") Reflectors
2 x 60 cm (24") Softboxes
2 x Power cables
The Interfit Cool-lite heads use daylight balanced fluorescent bulbs. This continuous lighting system runs cool, is noiseless and cheap to run.
The daylight balanced (between 5000 and 5200K) cold light source produces a soft uniform light ideal portraits and heat sensitive products.

Flicker-free noiseless operation
Digital and Video Compatible
Lamps: 5 x 24 Watt Fluorescent (eqv 500 watts)
Long life bulb (more than 6000 hours)
Colour Temperature: 5000-5200 K
Individual operation for each bulb

How much light do 27w fluorescent put out?

Probably quite a lot. The 11w bulbs in my bedroom are supposed to be 100W equivalent and that seems about right. I'll bet 27w is about as bright at 250 - 300w of tungsten.

For that sort of money you're close to to Bowens 500R 3 head kit.

But then you'd lose the whole WYSIWYG effect ;)

With LEDs getting brighter and daylight balanced CFLs getting cheaper and the blurring between stills and video I'll bet you see a bunch of these getting more and more popular.

My brother told me about these lights and I researched them and now I want to find somewhere that sells them (a lot cheaper). The conversion rate $1500 to £1000.

Have a word with ianbarber (in the Trade Sales section) he may be able to get you a better price as he deals with the UK importer.
