No
if you had a choice of upto a max of say 4 x lenses to cover any/most eventualities ie: portrait / landscape / motorsport etc.
what lenses would you choose..............

sorry cant change it now, but title should have read: which lenses would you have........oops

Well I'm almost there actually....

Canon 10-20mm for landscape stuff (got)
Canon 24-105mm F4 L for everyday stuff, portraits, landscape etc (got)
Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L IS (not got, but would bloody love!!)

I've got a 70-200 F4 L USM which is a fab lens, and will keep me happy until I can afford the 2.8. Long way away yet :crying:

16-55 F 2.8 (got the 17-40 f4)
24-70 f2.8 (got)
70-200 f2.8is (got)
100mm macro (need to get)

I'm nearly there as well

Canon 24-105mm F4 L (got)
Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L IS (got)
Canon 100-400mm F4.5-F5.6 L (got)

4th lens, I have not decided yet. like the 100mm Macro and 10-22mm if funds allow maybe both but not for a while, now building up some lighting equipment.

canon 300 f2.8 is (got the f4 is)
canon 16-35 f2.8 mkll (got the 17-35)
canon 24-70 f2.8 got the (28-70)
canon 70-200 f2.8 is (got)
and if I could sneak another in to the bag with no one seeing, a 85 f1.2 (one day I will have )

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR
Nikon 24-70mm F2.8G
Nikon Micro-Nikkor Macro lens - 105 mm - F/2.8

Nikkor Lens - 50 mm - F/1.2

mmmm that would be Nice :)

Already there also.
14-24mm f2.8
24-70mm f2.8
70-200mm f2.8
300mm. f2.8
And my baby: 85mm f1.4

Kev.

Canon 50mm f1.2L (Got a 1.8, if you don't have one get one)
Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS (Got)
Canon 70-200mm 2.8 IS (Just got)
Canon 100-400mm IS (I'm workin on it)

I've got 24mm - 300mm covered at f2.8, I'd just like something a little wider... 16-36 2.8 maybe! :)

narrowing down to 4 to cover everything is a bit tight in truth, i can get it to 5 to cover most stuff though.

24-70,50-150,100-400,105 macro and a 50mm 1.4.

have all of these below

nikon 50mm 1.8
nikon 85mm 1.4
nikon 24-70mm 2.8
nikon 70-200mm 2.8

erh not sure what else i need

I'm pretty happy with my 4:

24-105 f/4L IS
100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS
300 f/4L IS
500 f/4L IS

Am I mad? Not a single f/2.8 lens. From what I've read on here my kit must be rubbish!:p

I'd like the canon 8-600 DO f/1.2-f/2.8 IS but apparently they haven't got round to making it yet ;)

canon 300 f2.8 is (got the f4 is)
canon 16-35 f2.8 mkll (got the 17-35)
canon 24-70 f2.8 got the (28-70)
canon 70-200 f2.8 is (got)
and if I could sneak another in to the bag with no one seeing, a 85 f1.2 (one day I will have )

almost what he ^^^ says...

16-35 2.8(got 17-40)
24-70 2.8 (got sigma version)
70-200 2.8 (got)
and either a fast prime (50, 85), or a TS-E, or both, or a slap round the face as I am clearly daydreaming.

ok, I'll go with just three! :naughty:

17-35/2.8, 70-200/2.8 and 135/2

...and, I'd use a 500D for 'macro' and a TC for a bit more reach.

The trouble is, I'm now looking at my kit and...

-------
On a number of trips recently I've taken just three primes: 24/35/100

I'm pretty close!

24-70 f/2.8 - got
70-200 f/2.8IS - got
300 f/2.8 - in my dreams, but I do have a 400 f/5.6
last would probably be either a 135 f/2 or 85 f/1.2 so I have something for really low light indoors, but I will worry about the detail if I ever get to the point where I can buy one

I've already got my wish list,

I use Olympus stuff and have...

All Oly Zuiko lenses
9-18mm 4.0 - 5.6
12-60mm 2.8 - 4.0
50-200mm 2.8 - 3.5
50mm macro 2.0

With the 4/3 system you double the focal length too.

Paul

I don't have any of them yet but these are the lenses I would like to buy over the next few years to give me a well rounded kit. Not close to them yet but always fun to dream.

Sigma 10-20mm for wide angle landscapes.
Canon 400mm f5.6 for birdies.
Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 for general use at the shorter end.
Canon 70-200mm f2.8 for general use at longer end.

Tommy.

distagon 28mm

planar 45mm/50 mm

sonnar 85mm ( or 90mm summicron)

sonnar 135 mm

( and equivalents in Leica)

:DSounds like football card swapsies in the playground, but as I can't resist:D. Have to say these are all wants then full frame cam (Looks as if rumours are correct 7D could be just the ticket)

Canon 24-70 f2.8
Canon 15mm fisheye (have sigma 10mm for 40D which is great, but this is if I get FF)
Canon 70-200 f2.8 IS (for close up gig shots)
85mm f1.8 for portraits.

Apart from 70-200 am happy with what have for my 40D, but 24-70 is next on list, esp if IS comes out as rumoured, plenty of second hand to be had hopefully.

Now anyone know of a way to actually get the cash to buy this.

My four are as follows
Canon 17-40mm f4
Canon 24-70mm f2.8
Canon 100-400mm f4.5-f5.6
Canon 600mm f4
these are the lenses i probably use most
Regards
Lost

Not changing my current camera:
17-55 f2.8
70-200 f2.8
10-20 Sigma
50 f1.4

And that's the kit I have currently :)

It's interesting to see the balance between those that feel the need to get seamless coverage and those at are more willing to have gaps between lenses.

Mine are Nikon based
105 VR macro
24-70
70-200VR
200-400VR

And of course a nifty 50

Want a 600 VR:D

ok well the 24-70 seems to be a very popular choice.
right my list so far:

18-55 kit lens
50mm f/1.8
28-135 IS USM
70-300 f/4-5.6 IS USM

now i'm pretty sure i would like to get a canon 100-400 to replace the 70-300 (lots of money though)
also i'm thinking should i get the kit lens in the IS version ?
also no one mentioned in there list the 28-135 that i have in my collection...should i keep this or move it on and replace it with something else, if so what would you reccomend.............

12-24 Sigma
24-70 f/2.8 (got the Sigma but IMNO would have the Nikkor)
70-200 (Got the Sigma and have heard of issues with the Nikkor so will stick with what I have)
150-500 OS Sigma

IMNO (if money no object), I would get a faster long zoom. To add a couple more to the mix for more specialist use, I would add a Nikkor 105mm Macro (I have the Tamron 90mm and am very happy with it but this is a wishlist!) and a 50mm f/1.8 (which I have already. I found the extremely limited DoF of the f/1.4 too shallow and the better IQ marginal). For fun, I would also add a Sigma 8mm fisheye - easy to crop to the diagonal fisheye format - impossible to get the circular effect from the 15mm. While long fast primes would be nice, I like to be able to carry all my kit with me if I want to.
