B&W Low key, natural light portraits

Darn that is very good, who needs studio lights lol

Thanks! It did feel weird - on one hand more difficult to control the light, on the other hand side what you see is what you get which has it benefits too.

For me, there's something wrong with the eyes... If I were to guess, it looks like they've been over sharpened and over brightened in my opinion. It's only really noticeable in #2 where the (camera) right eye is in shadow yet seems unnaturally bright. The skin tones also seem unnatural to me and it's minor enough that I can't put my finger on what the problem is. In fact, the more I look, the more it might simply be down to Flickr compression. The tone transitions in the deep blacks also seem weird. In the last image, if you read left-right, it's deep black, then it just "jumps" to the next tone with no graduation. The hat also seems to have just 3 tones...

The content is good, nicely composed with some lovely cool expressions, and the highlight areas also look good. However the shadows and eye detail aren't my cuppa.

Thanks for helpful feedback, I may well have dodged the right eye a bit too much in 2. In the last image the jump in tone comes from the background changing from curtain to wall I think. I’ll see what I can do with the shadows and eyes.
