wow didnt think i would get this much responce :thumbs: heres what i am thinking now.... current situation:- 70-200mm f/2.8is + 1.4x conv = 280mm f/4 300mm f/4 sharper than above but only 20mm more reach so i would have to use my tc so i would end up with a 420mm f/5.6 but i dont know...

so it really is 50/50 as far as everyone is concerned i suppose it all comes down to the fact of the zoom having never owned or shot with a big prime i guess its about getting yourself in the right position rather than tweaking your placement with the zoom?

basically i went to silverstone over the weekend and found my 70-200 f2.8 just lacking in reach even with my 1.4x converter so i am thinking about shaking the piggy bank and getting another Len's but dint know what would be the better choice either a 100-400mm or the 300mm f4 and use my 1.4x...

i have had both... i got the sigma when it first came out so it was the original version (non macro) and enjoyed using it for many years nothing wrong with it at all pin sharp and fast, but i ended up selling it along with both sigma tc's and a few other bit's and treated myself to the f2.8 is...

i am planning on having a wander round for an hour if the weather is nice..

if you can afford the is lens then get that one you can always turn it off;)

thats exactly the same as i have only i would not call the 10-22 a mistake as i plan on selling mine and replacing it with a 16-35 if and when i move to full frame:thumbs:

stunning pics as usual getting up there is on my to do list for 2009... just one question is it really hit and miss as to how many planes you see and is there a best time to be there ? i live near nottingham and its a fair drive for me to have a blank day??
