Nice light on this image although I find the feet a bit distracting.. Very dirty in fact. I do agree with the points about an actual ballet dancer as the pose and pointing of the toes would be more precise :-)
Nice image. I would work on the white balance and reduce the tempeture, particularly on the skin tones. The strong highlight behind the model is quite distracting, taking your eye away from the main subject. :-)
One speed light, couple of triggers, an umbrella and a stand and you are good to go! The majority of my portraits are one light, inspired by Zack Arias
Just pick your moments and read what people are doing. That way you can select your shot rather than rifling off 100 frames in the hope of getting something :-)
Read up on photographing in public and know what you are allowed and not allowed to shoot. Typically kids and government buildings...
interesting composition but works. The only thing that draws away from image 1 and 3 is the whites of the eyes. Might have worked better if you weren't looking so much to the side and drew the eye closer to the camera?
A white sheet or card for reflective light and a black sheet or card for negative fill (used to add more contrast)
Work by the window and you will get the best light. It it's a harsh bright day, maybe defuse the light by placing a sheet over the window, this usually cuts it down by a stop or...
