Thats called experience. we will never get an 18yo to have the same skills as someone who has been doing 30k a year for the last 10 years. But in terms of observation skills, it is generally 70+ yo drivers who seem to drive on my local 60 road at 40!

I think it depends on where you live. No issue with parcels on the front door where I live, although normally they are left round the side behind the bins. Leaving with a neighbour would be a pain as mine are normally out - then you have the hassle of wanting to get parcel but neighbour is out...

The simple thing is just to make each new driver (regardless of age) have a black box for the first year. That measures various aspects of driving and if scores are good then insurance is cheaper and they get to lose the box. My son has just finished his first year, his score was very high so...
