Why are people buying electric cars?

Agree - in basic terms it could be the weight of the car which IIRC is in the logbook. Simple and easy

    WAMT....what annoyed me today!

The Bake Off. Have announced this years line-up. Have you ever seen a more box ticking cast... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gm8npmp4ro Literally chosen because of demographics only!

Minister to meet Jaguar Land Rover boss as thousands of job cuts expected

Are they? BYD are pretty good - been a passenger in those a few times. No more soul-less than the stuff we get from Japan or Korea, or even euro cars. The only ones with sole IMO tend to be the premium brands like BMW, Merc etc but they are getting quite generic now.

Minister to meet Jaguar Land Rover boss as thousands of job cuts expected

The whole rebrand of Jag the other year pretty much killed it! While there is always a place for niche brands like Ferrari etc... if you want mainstream you need to do what the market does with a bit of innovation too.

    RIP Richard O’Sullivan

I loved Dick Turpin as a kid and recorded a number of them off Rewind TV - one of my favourites. Too young for his other stuff but have liked watching reruns of robins nest. Great actor

What an utter waste of life

Voice recognition is not great (not just in car but generally) unless there is a knack of saying things. TBH its the wipers that are the biggie (it has auto full beam so never touch lights). Temp is not too bad but you still need to take your eyes off and make sure you are pressing right part...

What an utter waste of life

Saw this on FB and it did make me think (as I drive an EV)... I cant use my phone while driving - yet I can use the giant ipad in the car to change temp/wipers etc... Virtually everything is controlled by that and if the wipers are not doing what they should (pretty much the only negative of...

What an utter waste of life

Show me someone who has never made a mistake while driving and I will show you a liar. We are humans and although we drive within the law and concentrate on what we are doing our minds will wander, we will shout at the kids in the back etc... Not sure that reaching means it will result in a...

What an utter waste of life

Agree - I remember a case years ago when I was at college. Normal guy was driving, leant to the rear seats where his jacket was hanging to put something in the pocket/take something out, lost concentration/control and ended up killing someone and went to prison. Yes, he shouldn't have done that...

    Camera gear on planes

Well, aside from that 1 time in all my life (200 flights+) I have not had it weighed and even then it was fine. It's unlikely he is on a small 8-12 seater plane - my assumption is a budget airline somewhere. He has pockets as a plan B but there are also no guarantee they have not overbooked...

    ££££ prices shocked me today

What on earth are you doing with it - my Macbook is 5 years old (M1) and works fine with LR and imovie for video. Why need 128 RAM?

    Camera gear on planes

I have flown some 70 times in last 4 years, mainly Ryanair who are supposed to be the 'worst'. Have taken a proper size back but have often used the expander which makes it oversized and never been challenged. Sale with weight, I guess if you are huffing and puffing with it (and do not look like...

Is photography as a hobby dying?

It has died a bit for me. Back in the day I would think nothing of lugging a D700, lenses, maybe an X100 and a film camera or 2 out on a walk in woods or a trip to London. But my photography has been centred around my kids - days out and pics of other things not just them. Now they are older...

What an utter waste of life

No - the aim is to ideally prosecute all. Or at least prosecute the most serious offenders work and go down the list and not just go for the soft easy targets
