yeah - I'd seriously consider getting a non kit lens, something of a fixed focal length (which means not a zoom lens) like a 50mm or 35mm. You'll have to move around a bit while taking photos but, with the wider aperture, will give you more flexibility in terms of low light and depth-of-field...
