    Light stands/Umbrellas

Thanks both. Les has offered me a Westcott setup which sounds an ideal starter - it has the shoot thru brolly with the option of a black/reflective cover. Hopefully I can then adapt to a softbox in the future. Essentially it's just meddling at this stage so I'm sure it will be ok.....

    Light stands/Umbrellas

Hey guys. Apologies if this has been asked before.... I've been reading up on various sites such as Strobist etc, and now I'm ready to invest in a bit of equipment. I've got a Canon 430 exii and a Cactus V4 trigger set that I've had for years yet never properly used off camera. Now I'm...

    Light Tents / Small-scale backdrops

Hope you can give me some pointers guys. I've recently started shooting and reviewing some stuff for a local RC car magazine and part of this is to provde some white-drop detail shots of the cars and some components. In the past I have bumbled through with sheest of paper, long exposures and...

Lens Rentals - British Grand Prix

Thanks mate. I'm just waiting to hear back from Lens For Hire and to confirm they've not taken a payment. Fingers crossed I'm then clear to reorder! Thanks!

Lens Rentals - British Grand Prix

I've just found that out after some investigation on their website! All these things are sent to try us! Thanks for the recommendation of the 70-300. I'm struggling to find one of these too just at the moment, apart from the DO version which I might end up settling for! Any views on that?

Lens Rentals - British Grand Prix

I may have to have a look into that......typical of my luck I've had an email from LFH and they can't get the 50-500 to me in time. :( Back to the drawing board it seems!

Lens Rentals - British Grand Prix

And in saying that, Lenspimp have now had the lens booked out so is no longer available. Luckily, LensesForHire have come up trumps with a non-OS Sigma 50-500 at a cheaper price, so I've jumped on it! I just hope I've done the right thing....... :)

Lens Rentals - British Grand Prix

Hi guys. I'm off to the British Grand Prix Quali in a couple of weeks and had been half-heartedly looking at rental lenses. I've now realised just how close it is!! For those that have been; assuming someone on here has; I was origianlly looking at the Canon 100-400 to mount to my 50D...

Strobist setup - what's best to use?

I've got a second 430EXII on the way from the insurers now, so will attempt to mend mine myself, although is still useable bar the zoom. With that in mind, i'm wondering about doing a bit of a strobist set up with the paor of Speedlites. I have a Cactus V4 trigger set, although am currently...

    Canon 430EXII repair

Had another look over it last night an there's definately no noticeable movement back and forth, it shuffles up and down a fraction of a mm at the end of adjustment in each direction but that's it. It's certainly more noisy than it was previously too. Lehmans and Fixation have both come back...

    Canon 430EXII repair

Thanks, I'll look into both of those. By reflector I mean the internal bulb reflector, not the pull-out wide diffuser.

    Canon 430EXII repair

Last night the wife knocked my 430EXII off the dining table accidentally, and in first sight it seemed ok. Flash fires, no obvious damage etc. Checking it again this morning before work I notice that the reflector doesn't move when you change the zoom. There is noise from the motor (which is...
