Can someone please help me put my mind at ease?

Agree with the above. I have a fantastic 70 - 200 IS ii, pop a x2 iii on it and it's average, nothing more.

And remember, you're not really cleaning the sensor, that's safely behind the hipass filter. It's all much more robust than you would imagine.

Benefit of calibrating lens using dock rather than on camera?

Some cameras will allow calibration at both the short and long end of a zoom. With the sigma 150 - 600 S the dock allows you to change the characteristics of the auto focus and image stabilisation.

Benefit of calibrating lens using dock rather than on camera?

Not necessarily. Calibration, whether on camera or lens, is just a way of adjusting out the small manufacturing inconsistencies. These inconsistencies exist on both camera and lens, no matter which you adjust you are always calibrating the combination of that lens on that body. It's possible...

    Advice on extenders please

I tried a Canon 2x mk 3 and it turned my fantastic 70-200 2.8 is mk2 into a distinctly average lens. I could live with the slow af but the image quality was very poor, soft and lacking contrast. I haven't tried the 1.4x though, many say they get good results with these.

Although my 24-105 IS rarely off my 5d3 I still think my very old efs 17-55 is a much better lens. It's the reason I kept my 60d.

    Photographers with ibs

I don't have ibs myself, but my wife does. It seems to me that everyone has their own triggers, although stress seems universal. She swears by mebeverine (colfac) and soluble fibre (physillum capsules). It's then a matter of avoiding the other triggers as much as possible, and stay well clear...
