18-135mm stm lens is much sharper than the older 18-135mm. Great walkabout lens. Although sometimes you would like more zoom, I do prefer to know that I'm getting a sharp image. Silent auto focus is nice as well.
It's a pretty good video overall with the kit lens, as ODMphotography says the 50mm F/1.8 can be picked up cheaply and is a much better option for indoor filming.
As your ISO increases so does the noise on the video, but the camera needs to use a higher ISO when filming with the 18-55mm kit...
I have a Manfrotto 585 Modosteady, I must try it with my 650D and a nifty 50.

For me that's a good way to think about it. I got the 650D with 18-135 STM lens for £611 delivered, jessops said it would be about £900, that's a massive saving.
