    Photoshop

You could have use Microsoft Publisher but Microsoft have just withdrawn it which is a kick in the teeth for those who have been paying for the Office 365 suite. Dave

    Why lopsided

I have not been consciously adding a Dutch tilt to my Motor sport images but will certainly consider it in future. Dave

Image edits to fit accepted norms set by judges.

We have members at my club who can be hard on Judges but we give them an unenviable task. We require them to choose a few winners so they feel bound to criticise the rest of the images which are not winners. If having selected the winners they were to just dismiss the rest as losers, they would...

Image edits to fit accepted norms set by judges.

Why are you kidding yourself that these are accepted norms by judges when you colleagues told you the same and I agree with them. The image is in two halves and the blocked up areas at the bottom are awful and presumable due to using film which has a much poorer dynamic range than digital. Dave

    Amazon scams, any experience ?

Never mind, just tell the person who arrives to collect the parcel that you were confused about its arrival so took it to XXX police station. It does not matter to you if it is a long way and a scammer is not going to visit a police station. Dave

Shooting vertically with no access to view

I was certainly able to control and view my Canon 5D4 using my iPad. Dave

    Trusting the Reader

It depends on the genre. I read a lot of historical fiction (some military) so I expect places to be given and accurate. Dave

    A drink question

I do not dive for a drink when arriving home either when I was working or since I retired. When watching The Sweeney, Minder or Morse they all seem to drink all the time and have bottles in their desk drawers so it is not a recent thing. After watching an episode, I need plenty of black coffee...

What does a camera club vice president actually do?

In my local area, we have Club Chairman but do not use the word "president". In my last club we had a Chairman and President. Dave

Fed up with Wet Shaving so......

I find it amazing that that the wet shavers can spare the time. My brother-in-law used to wet shave and had to do so twice a day consuming a total of at least 30 mins a day which meant he was spending at least 8 days a year shaving compared to my 5 mins a day. He had tried electric but his...

    Doug Allan, RIP.

Some years ago, Doug Allan gave a talk at the Cheltenham Science Festival about his work with David Attenborough. The talk was excellent along with his excellent images. It was clear that the Attenborough series is teamwork and all members contribute. I am sure Attenborough's role is not just a...

    Thermometer -

I started developing colour prints in 1979 and the chemicals had to be used at 40C and held to within 1C. At first this was difficult but a company producing a tropical fish tank heater offered a modified version just for amateur photographers. They guaranteed it accurate to 0.5C. It was very...

    Camera Club speakers

I am sure that we would not allow a member to Heckle at my club; it has not happened during my 25 years membership. We may have restricted our catchment area to about 50 miles pre-2015 but put no specific restriction now. We have had a speaker from Ireland which mean paying for a flight but this...
