Well you were quite right. All I needed to do was to read your note properly. :rules: I downloaded DNG converter 6.2 which is the version which mentions my Sony SLT55V. and it saw the Sony Raw files and converted them to DNG and then I could read the DNG on my version of Photoshop (CS4)...

you know, there wa a time when I thought I was good at this software stuff, but now.... I understood from your list that I wouldn't be able to use all the improvements of the latest raw editing program, but thought I would be able to just convert my ARW to DNG and then use the older raw...

Thanks for this very comprehensive list. I had a Sony alpha 350 and Adobe CS4. I upgraded my camera to a Sony SLT55 and now CS4 raw cannot read the raw files. I don't wish to upgrade to CS5, does any program exist which converts my Sony ARW files from the SLT55 to DNG so that I can still use...
