    First DSLR - Question& Ideas

They'll all up to the job mate . I'd suggest canon as lenses second hand are easier to come by . But just pick the one you like the best . You'd be better off with a prime for portrait photography . Mind the nifty fifty which you mention is great in good natural light but not so good in low...

Street photography - 35mm or nifty fifty

I would try both . Depends on what u are after . 35 most flexible as u can move forward . 50 u can't always move back . Mind I love a 50 on a crop sensor but maybe that's me . I like to get more portrait like shots in .

Ps one thing with kids - you want a fast shutter speed as the ability to take a lot of shots per second as well as fast focusing I have a 50mm 1.4 on a canon 550d . Perfect for lots of occasions. .

    Beginner Equipment advice needed

Making a nice cup of tea is more than having a fancy kettle . Get yourself a nice cheap camera and fast lens and go play . Buy some books , read some forums , practice and ask for feedback . Look to spend no more than 300 - if a ways buy second hand . Canon 550d plus a canon 50 1.8 will get...

    Beginner Best camera for beginner?

Go with your friends advice . More fun if u can share gear . And as most will tell you hardly any difference between the two but canon gear second hand easier to get hold off - slightly

Beginner Should I upgrade my body

To answer your question direct If I was you I would upgrade for the better screen and slightly better performance on ISO etc to either Canon 550d - cheap as chips upgrade to a great camera Or if you want something bigger to hold - canon 50d . For Same reasons Both second hand from this site
