That's exactly what I did for several hours, both the torch and the decision I'd have to black out the entire room to get rid of it LOL :D
thanks Garry, I've just been chatting to a watch photographer who said... 'yeah I get them like that occasionally, we get the glass taken out and photoshop...
LOL Cheers Hoppy, so you don't think I should take a grinder to the watch face then? :P
I dunno it's just too bright for me in that area. I don't mind some reflection - as you say to show the dome it needs *something* there, it's just too harsh for me. To get it that subtle I had to get the...
I decided to test out Helicon Focus after hearing some good things about it. Thought I'd shoot a watch my son gave me for my 40th. Which turned the shoot from a quick test to a marathon effort and hair pulling!
Below is the final shot I got before I threw the watch, camera and lights through...
The important thing to remember here really is the end goal. In the OP's case, the photographs aren't for any use where image reproduction is actually important. For the given purpose they probably wouldn't care if 50% of the colour spectrum was missing and it was shot on a fisheye, so...
But then the CRI of cheapy LED worklights is terrible. Hell the CRI of some more expensive photography-intended lights isn't great, so far from ideal for trying to replicate paintings accurately!
I've tested this in my 622's - rechargeable batteries work okay but I did notice more misfires / no fires when using them in the same given environment.
Enough to stop me using the rechargeables? No, but there was definitely a difference
I've had to do similar in the past Snapshot, I feel your pain, the no-budget thing is fairly non-negotiable isn't it! 99p in Asda gets you a plain white shower curtain and a few quid gets you plastic 'canes' from a DIY store to make a frame. Ideal? No. Good enough for the requirements? Definitely!
Just wondering if anyone knew the control methods / pins used from the hotshoe for the focus assist light going on and off with shutter pressing? I am shooting at a 'challenging' venue a lot, I have an excellent little prism for creating a pattern that I'd like to mount so I get improved focus...
Just wanted to give a word of warning in case any of you are thinking of ordering from Maple Framing Ltd.
I put my first order in with them yesterday for a mix of strut mounts for a school job, received today.
The packaging was appalling - they were effectively loose between rolled sheets of...
Yeah just been looking for it. I'm always in manual and use spot metering to measure a few points for the exposure, but can't find in manual how ttl is affected with spot metering. Exactly as you say, throws out some oddities for larger areas of dark and light, even when I'm trying to adjust...
Just wanted to clear something up here - it used to be the case that the flash on TTL used to take its measurement from the centre weighted zone, is that still the case with SB910 or SB900 on D700 or D800? Had a few issues with it seeming to measure from elsewhere, giving under exposure when...
