OCA The Art of Photography Course Discussion - Part 2

Hey guys, Well I've finally got my first assignment nearly complete, just need to touch up the blog entry itself, but the images are there. If you'd like a look and have any thoughts, tips or advice about the blog itself. I've probably waffled too much again. My Tutor wanted it on the blog and...

    Has it been done before?

This is the key. I don't care if everyone's done it, or everyone's seen something like it. I take photos for myself, and happen to share some that I particularly like.

    Has it been done before?

I should add after a quick play yesterday down at the Thames Barrier that 30" wasn't long enough to get the sky to blur as well as this photo, the clouds just weren't moving fast enough. A long shutter was required and I didn't have my phone/watch or a remote release timer so couldn't try...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

I take the fact that there are hundreds of others on this board alone who have done a BT to Panamoz and had nothing but excellent comments about them as a sign they won't scarper with mine.

    Canon 5Ds & 5Dr

That looks like a landscape and studio dream.

    Has it been done before?

Are you using a stopwatch or just a timer release?

    Beginner 50mm lens recommendation

ah, in that case the 50mm or the 35mm will both be possible options for you. 35mm will be better indoors as it's a bit wider. Difficult to go wrong with either really.

Beginner Monitor for use with LR

It would be much cheaper to use an HDMI lead from your macbook and then an HDMI to DVI on the other end. Should be about a fiver.

What have you done with your camera today

More walkies today, this time in and around Greenwich.

Beginner Monitor for use with LR

DVI is digital, VGA is analogue. Longer cables and higher resolutions will show the difference more readily. If you have a DVI cable then use it.

    Nikon D750 & D780

Not only that. When I got my D750 from them they gave me £60 off what everyone else paid because a) they couldn't promise a UK manual and plug(£50 and it did have them) and b) it was delayed a few days (£10). It's a bit crazy. But then they can be more expensive on some lenses, like the 85mm...

    Has it been done before?

At a guess (if my sums are right) because it would mean a 14 minute exposure rather than a 2.5 minute exposure.

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

Oh sure, they won't touch stuff otherwise, but there are places who will, and the likes of Panamoz will deal with it for 3 years too. As for the warranty on used gear, I thought Nikon warranty cards were non transferable? Not sure anyone's going to care where the camera came from in 3 years...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

For what it's worth with the D750 at least, Nikon UK are repairing them all regardless of where you got it and those that bought from Panamoz have been offered all the help they might need as far as I can remember. Most don't and you have to be a bit special looking to get snagged at customs...
