    Kit for Safari

What about lens rental? I imagine you are going for 2 weeks? How about renting the 200-400mm FR VR. I went back home to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in May last year and rented a 500mm F4 IS (Canon) at the time. I stayed for just over 2 weeks and it cost me around £400 to rent the lens -...

Help - Lens not coming off

Over the weekend, I was photographing the deer rut in Bushey Park in the UK. I got charged by a big stag who took offence to my 500mm and thought I was going to take his ladies away. He knocked me back and my camera/lens/tripod onto the ground and luckily didn't pursue any further. Got up...

Skomer Island - Are the Puffins still there?

Hi, I have been watching the weather for Haverford West for the last 2 and a half months and it does not seem to have stopped raining in that time there. I have just checked the weather forecast for the next 2 days and it seems clear. I am considering driving up from London, but just...

    Kgalagadi Wildlife - South Africa

Bluelion - thanks. I rented the 500mm F4 IS L from Stuart at Lensforhire - On that note, I got fantastic service and communication for him, he even turned up at Heathrow airpork to deliver the lens - used the 1.4 TC. That combination accounted for about 50% of my shots. Rarely used the 70-200mm...

Sure, all shot with MK II and 500MM F4 IS L with 1.4 TC. I always shoot in AV and they are all around F4-F8. Shutter speeds were in excess of 800 and ISO between 200-400. Thanks for the kind comments

    Elements 6 Basic Help

Hi, I need to develop my processing skills. I have Elements 6. I have had a look through this great site and found some good bits and pieces, but really wanted to focus on two areas. The two things I want to focus on first are 1) Saturation - making the colours really pop. What are the...
