    Always trying something new

Very nice! Great use of natural light, and angle of the light and shadow is just right too. Good timing!

    Beginner Hello

Difficult to go wrong with a full frame Canon or Nikon, but I think the early models of the 5d III had a problem with a light leak from the viewfinder, so may be good to check if this was fixed. Also, mention that it's been only used for video suggests it's been used by a professional? So...

Should I sell all my gear...

I'm an average photographer (I think), and a terrible guitarist, but I still enjoy both. I've been having lessons for the guitar, but I still suck, but I'm not giving up, as it gives me pleasure. Looking at your photos, I'm not sure what your aim was in taking the shots? What you see with...

First results from my new studio space

I like the reflection, and the lighting, and the dancers action pose is great. The background and ceiling lights are distracting - would be great if its possible to light the subject only and have a dark, underexposed background?

    Preferred Portrait Settings

Aperture priority for me, keep iso low as I shoot with a crop sensor, point focus on nearest eye, natural light plus reflector, use exposure compensation to get the skin tone right, slight over exposure and wide aperture to clean up the background a bit, and as my 'model' has a wonderful 'dusky...

    Magazine Cover for October

Fascinating for me as a total amateur to see a customer brief and tje resulting image. Looks to me like you ticked all the boxes. I also like the way her hair curves around the main focal points of the glass and her nose. Also impressed by how the model fits the brief. Good choice.

    Bangkok visit

Best mall for camera gear is Fortune Town on Rama 9 (MRT is best way to get there). MBK also worth a visit, mainly for the small 'grey import' shop on the photographic floor (opposite the Canon video store).

    Into the Light

Not sure if this is street, or a long range portrait, buI liked the colours. Fuji X-M1 with 27mm

    Critique Beach Portrait

Nice light, model and beach scene. Like the warm summer evening feel to the image.

    Cheap Travel Camera

The GX1 was good at the time, but unlike classic film cameras, the improvements in newer models are significant and will effect image quality. The micro four thirds sensor is quite small compared to apsc and full frame, so older models will suffer from significant noise issues, especially in...

    Technical Glitch

Interesting artistic effect, but a bit worrying - is it broken?

    Beach Portraits - Tips Needed

Yes, good suggestion about a smaller aperture, as I suppose the background can be in focus when it's a seascape. I also used continuous focus for some of these, and I think this switches off phase detect focus on a Fuji? Perhaps the contrast detect focus was fooled by the stripes on her...

    Bridal portrait

Beautiful, classic bridal portrait. Nice, soft light.

    A Snap On The Street

Cute model and pose, think it may be better with a wider aperture and/or longer lens to blur that background? I've also tried adding blur in post processing to some of my shots, although often it doesn't look real.

    Thai Tuk Tuk Interior

Yes, I'm suprised more don't roll over, but they are an essential element of a night out in Bangkok.
