Still been persevering to see if I can get it to work. I've noticed that the camera is metering for the flash (even though it isn't firing) when connected. So it's like it knows the flash is connected, meters accordingly but when it tells it to fire, it isn't doing (resulting in underexposed...

I've tried in Manual, Av, Tv. Just put it back on the 400D and worked perfectly. Returned to the 80D and still nothing. The ETTL lights up on the flash almost immediately.Could it be the contacts? Looking at them there is absolutely zero damage to the contacts or shoe, it is exactly as it came...

I cant change anything other than TTL or 2nd curtain sync. Strangely, when mounted, the "test" button on the flash will not fire the flash but as soon as it's removed from the camera, it works every time.Might have to look at picking up a second hand 580EX.
