    Hasselblad 500 C/M

Nice haul! The manuals are also available here on the Hasselblad Historical site: http://www.hasselbladhistorical.eu/HW/HWVSys.aspx Have fun with the new kit - am still getting my head around the 500 C/M but it's well worth it. And the sound of that shutter is like nothing else

Advice - jammed Hassy A12 back

So this is what was causing the problem - you can (hopefully!) just make out part of the gummed tab that was left behind. Thanks to all for your feedback and advice!

Processing my own black and white film

Also a great song ;) For film retrieval, a piece of scrap film with a bit of double sided tape usually does the trick.

Advice - jammed Hassy A12 back

Good news is that I managed to free it up! I'll take a pic later but it looks like the gummy strip part of the film had attached itself to the back  I applied a very little bit of extra force which somehow managed to be enough to snap the paper, freeing up the roll. I then bunged the...

Advice - jammed Hassy A12 back

Carl - thank you for the pics! Most helpful. From what I can feel winding (sorry to folks who correctly pointed out that I'm winding on the rest of the spool and not rewinding!), it feels like it's snagging right at the end of the film. Will just have to see if I can extract the film without...

Advice - jammed Hassy A12 back

Wow - thanks for the replies. I guess at least with 120 film you could potentially wind the film onto a spool in a changing bag. Carl - that sounds exactly the issue I'm having. I'd turned it enough (I thought) to have rewound the film and was waiting for it to slacken off...and then jammed...

Advice - jammed Hassy A12 back

Hello all! I recently bought a Hasselblad 500CM which seems to have developed a problem with the A12 back. I ran a B&W film through no problems (even managed to dev it myself without mishap) then put a colour film in. Seemed to load ok, shot the entire 12 frames but when it came to rewind it...

    Some advice please

Sorry about the lack of reply Thomo - was away for a few days (and testing the new LX3 :D) Best of luck with the new camera - hope you enjoy it. (for the record, in case anyone else is thinking of going the LX3 route, they were priced at £339 in LCE - a good £30 less than John Lewis which...

    Some advice please

London Camera Exchange on the Strand in London had some LX3s in stock yesterday. 2 left in black (I bought one of the 3 they had ;)) and more in silver. They do mail order :)

    Any Events in Surrey/Kent?

 Blimey - you're not kidding! 4 hours?! Reminds me of the hash they made of stewarding the car park at the Hop Farm festival last year. Event finishes at 11ish, the stewards scarper...the car park became bedlam. Decided to get some shut eye while folk were battling it out to get out...

    Any Events in Surrey/Kent?

Biggin Hill is good - it ain't cheap, but it's a good day out. Or, if funds don't allow, find a good vantage point nearby and watch the fly pasts :D

    Beginner books

+ 1 on the Bryan Peterson. I'd also like to recommend 'Travel Photography' by Steve Davey. Even if travel photography is not your bag, the information within can all be applied - there's a lot in there on composition as well as more technical aspects. Also, the book is illustrated with...

What is it with Parents scowling at photographers?

:( That's a shame. My sister lives abroad and the nursery she sends her son to takes pics of all the kids on a regular basis which are then posted up on the nursery's website for all to see ( :D). It makes for a nice record of the kids and is a really nice way for relatives overseas to...

Winter Projects For Budding Landscape Photographers

The thing is, Richard Billingham is not known as a landscape photographer - he's kind of hard to categorise but I'd put him more in the Fine Art/ documentary stable - he was included in Saatchi's 'Sensation' exhibition in 1997 alongside other YBAs such as Jake & Dinos Chapman, Gillian Wearing...
