    Black & White Starter

Hi guys, I've been using the darkrooms at college for a while but as I leave in May I'm looking for a method to be able to develop B&W in a home darkroom. I already have photo paper, an enlarger and timer but nothing else as yet. I am planning to use my garage to do the dev (want to be...

Accessory add on grips, do you love them or hate them ?

If I'm doing studio work i use the grip (seems to handle better) If I'm doing an event I use if or the battery life If I'm out and about shooting for pleasure I tend to leave it at home. Camera doesn't fit in the slingshot when it's on. Doesn't this raise a bigger question? Does...

If this is your first attempt at portraiture then well done. Agree with the comments about the second picture so let's just ignore that one for now. The first uses a very interesting composition and although the lighting style is a little unconventional in my IMO it does work. One of the...

I think I have it covered...

I always find a monopod useful for lowlight situations like your reception. Helps steady the camera without being cumbersome, so you can still move around easily.

Is this the forum for me??

Thanks Kipax and justinframe - glad I am in the right place! John yes you are right. I think the best plan is to continue with some photography work on the side. That way it brings in a little extra income and I only have to do as much as I want to. As for the course, it has been wonderful...

Is this the forum for me??

Hi everyone, This is the latest in a line of photography forums I've joined over the years. I tried for ages to get used to the Digital Camera Magazine forum, but can't help feeling that so many of the people over there are up their own a***s! eg "I'm the winner of the best photographer in...
