Canon EF 40mm F/2.8 STM Lens - Views on how it performs on APS-C cameras?

I'm thinking of getting the Canon EF 40mm F/2.8 STM Lens for my 60D. Any views on how it performs on a crop sensor camera? I have the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM which I love but the idea of having something so small and lightweight to take out instead, on occasion, really appeals...
