Anyone using a 'floating hide' with a dry suit?

I've gone through many drysuits over the years for both diving, (commercial and pleasure) and above water work and now have a particular favourite style of entry and material for the work I do now. A good drysuit will keep you dry even after hours in the water but in order to keep the cold at...

    The Fisherman

Nice shot Les, you don't often get to identify which type of cormorant it is unless you catch them side on like this, you can really make out the gular pouch in yellow. Having said that, well over 90% of cormorants here in Somerset are the subspecies sinensis and I've probably seen more this...

Black lives Matter- but not this one :)

Brazen little blighters too, I've managed to get within 2 metres of them at Greylake before. In the 90's I was working in the highlands of Scotland and a group of people broke into a mink farm and released them all, we were trapping mink for months afterwards and we saw a decline in a lot of the...

    Reluctant Dragon

 I don't like having my photo taken either! Nice clear shot though even if its is from a different angle.

    Glastonbury Tor

You're quite right of course, and it's on my list to get one of the Tor in the mist. I do have a few others that have more depth of field, but weirdly I didn't set out to take any landscape shots, I was capturing shots of rhynes and watercourses with marginal plants and algae in them for a new...

    Glastonbury Tor

Yes it's a lovely spot and I hadn't been up there for a while, this was an hour before sunset as the light was great. Saw a marsh harrier but a bit far away for my lens. I'm usually walking the dog at that time so that limits what wildlife photography I can do as he's a boisterous youngster :)

Out for a wander looking for owls this week, didn't see any but saw the Tor nearby and thought why not.

    This River keeps on Giving

Makes sense, Tend to hear the cranes before I see them, they are quite noisy times. Also had more otter sightings this year as well, all of them gorging themselves on swan mussels, crunch, crunch, crunch.

    This River keeps on Giving

They're getting more common these days in our neck of the woods Les. Never used to see them and only a few of the little egrets when I walked the dog every morning, now I see loads of the little ones and few of these most weeks now. Have you seen the cranes yet? Lucky enough to have them fly...

It was Fyne Court on the Quantocks, hs a lovely walled garden entrance like that, fantastic for bluebells in May.

Thanks very much, it was rather sluggish as it was warming up which helped me get close! Your picture reminds of some beautiful walled gardens near me in Somerset, the entrance is just like that.

    Just hatched

One I took not long ago, managed to get reasonably close as it dried off after just emerging from the nymph case still attached on the grass stalk.
