The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

I have to confess that I’m sorely tempted to get a Panasonic GM1/GM5 and a PanaLeica 15/1.7, mainly to be able to say I’m using a Leica Q¼.

The Nikon 1 system - an open thread

Thank you for the tip, I hadn’t seen his pictures before, very inspiring. On re-reading my post I realise I expressed myself rather poorly, I’m actually hoping to incorporate the noise in my artistic expression (artistic might be a strong word, though…)

The Nikon 1 system - an open thread

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a Nikon 1 camera for everyday carry/friends and family/street shooting. I’ve rather liked some of the black and white conversions that make the noise more acceptable.

Colour negative film in available low-energy lighting

Thank you for your replies. I suppose, as expected, that it boils down to me having to take a few test rolls. I also wonder if the filter factors are different with household LED-lights. If the filter happens to block exactly the wavelength the light emits relying on an external light meter...

Colour negative film in available low-energy lighting

Do tungsten colour correction filters from back in the days work with modern low-energy indoor lighting? I am mulling a project that is basically portraits of people in their homes and since my rate of shooting is extremely low and only have a little experience with colour I'd appreciate some...

    Official Talk Leica thread

Ah, yes, the Summarit, I had forgotten about that. And I didn't now about the Voigtländer in the first place. My goal is to have a lens that 'just works' when I don't want to deal with the focus shift of the Sonnar, preferably also small, fast and with some character (but not too much). I...

    Official Talk Leica thread

Just for the sake of conversation: Zeiss Sonnar 50/1.5 and Zeiss Planar 50/2.0 or Leica Summicron 50/2.0 v.4 ? I have the Sonnar which I like (small, fast, with some character) but it is a bit fiddly in every day use (mainly the focus shift).

    Official Talk Leica thread

Interesting, I'm pretty sure my copy of the Sonnar f/1.5 focuses accurately at f/1.5 while there is a few cm back fokus at f/2.8. I'm not sure which I prefer, while the depth of field is shallower at f/1.5, and it is the kind of lens I would tend to use wide open, it is probably easier to lean...

I certainly have, analog images seem to require more time in Photoshop and Lightroom than digital ones. :-) Truth be told, though, I haven't done darkroom prints in years, in fact I haven't even got a functioning darkroom right now, so it's develop-and-scan for me until I can get it sorted.

Middle-aged father of two with long commute to full time work. In my copious spare time I try to raise my photographic game to something at least slightly above family snapshots while resisting GAS. I've got a soft spot for analog photography because, you know, digital just isn't time consuming...
