South-West England Morning from a newcomer Devon!

Hello. I have recently booked a holiday in Devon (staying near Tavistock) so if it is local and you know of any good locations let me know. I have already had a look around on google earth and there looks to be a nice waterfall nearby, and obviously the moors... I also shoot on an 80D, since...

The GAS confessional - all who suffer are welcome. :)

Luckily for the better half, I don't have the budget for major GAS. I did convince her that we (as in me) should get a new camera and lens combo last year and I am still being reminded of it every month when the payment goes out of the joint account (luckily 0% interest). I am now resorting to...

What have you done with your camera today

Had a week off work on my lonesome. Been out a few times with the camera, but today stayed local. Went to a local butterfly zoo [?] and made a new friend. Taken with my phone camera, although I did have the canon on me too. Hopefully have some good stuff to share from the week when I have gone...

    North Wales Stages

Jeez, 16.... Nicely done. I'm old enough to have mates that had Mk1 escorts. I am not too ancient though, my first car was a mk2 escort. Keep experimenting and pushing your boundaries, photograph things that you wouldn't normally find interesting etc. I assume you are doing photography at...

What have you done with your camera today

Took the wife and sproglet (and the EOS700D) to Eagle Heights, a rather splendid bird of prey centre, and tried my hand at birds in flight, as well as on the perch. Just downladed 240 pics from my card to the laptop to start sifting through them.

Cracking shots. I love [good] motorsport shots. Captured the action really well, and I think the last one is my fave out of the bunch.

    A couple of recent shots

I do that already. I have been going to racing events for a few over twenty years now. Mainly Brands Hatch and Arena Essex. I have already decided that I am going to Speedway this year. I have only been once before, yet it is every Friday in season at Arena. I am also going to attend my first...

    2015 Review

My fave is the Red Bull VW Polo coming head on, spewing a dusty rooster tail behind it... but having said that, even as a grown man, I would gladly put any one of them up on my bedroom wall. I don't think the missus would let them stay up long, but she doesn't know sht so ignore her.

    Art and Photograhy.

'If there is a lesson in waterfalls for newbies, it ought to be to try and capture what they see or capture something other people DON'T, not make more cheese, and call the admission of failure 'art'.' That looks familiar.... & significantly out of context... Firstly, apologies to Teflon Mike if...

    A couple of recent shots

Nice shots. I realised how much I enjoyed photography whilst taking photos at racing events. Unfortunately I also realised that I'm not very good (yet) at motorsport photography. I like your images, the cars are all very clear and well focused with lovely motion blur in the back ground. the...

'If there is a lesson in waterfalls for newbies, it ought to be to try and capture what they see or capture something other people DON'T, not make more cheese, and call the admission of failure 'art'.' I have been commenting on a thread that another guy started about the use of filters etc, and...

    Filters

The point I was making, is just that to learn a skill I (and I assume others) will go over the typical images and how they are done. From there I will progress and try other things. Don't run before you can walk and all that. Yes, milking a waterfall is easy and is a subject that has been milked...
