This taken between 9.40 and 10.30, just checked the time stamps. At 10.40 the moon reared its face and stopped anymore photography. The Milky Way was direct south, also check the moonrise and moonset as this ruin any milky way shots. Check this site :-)...

Thanks Andy. Totally agree about the foreground, but in this case it was just sand and shrubs so didn't really add anything. I could have scoped a better location but I had limited time due to the moonrise which left me with an hour.

Quick edit, need to take the crowds out and work on the smoke more. Was a bit disappointed it only lasted 12 minutes!!

Great shot :-) To bring out the Milky Way you need to increase contrast and boost whites, this can be done in PS, layering and masking etc.

I couldn't believe the data I was getting....never seen a sky this dark before. There was no light pollution at all.....anyway I had 2 nights taking shots......so got enough data to last me a while :-)

Thanks :-) A good amount was brought out in PP, the key is to increase the contrast between the dust lanes and the stars. Getting a natural colour is also personal taste.
