    Calumet merged into Wex

Hopefully what were Calumet branches will now increase their Sony exposure. :) Glasgow at least has very little.

    Sooooo much cheaper- why?

You have it the wrong way around. Tax evasion = non-payment of tax, illegal Tax avoidance= minimising tax due, legal

    SONY AFTER SALES

In all my years of Alpha ownership I have only had to send something to Sony in Wales once & that was handled OK. Sony offers relatively cheap additional warranties e.g. http://www.wexphotographic.com/other-camera-accessories/#esp_category_cf=Manufacturer&esp_category_filter_Manufacturer=Sony If...

    70-300 ish for A99

In that focal range & price I would probably recommend the Tamron SP AF70-300mm F4-5.6 Di VC USD. I would, however, echo the comment about going longer - if you could find a s/h Tamron 150-600 USD that should fit pretty well. Also, the best resource for lens for the A-mount is Dyxum...

Camera with 1" sensor or smaller and remote live view shooting ... is it possible?

do you need full tethering support or just remote viewing? Afaik probably anything with an HDMI output should be able to supply a remote feed. I imagine that the target customer for cheaper/simpler compacts isn't considered to have the need for full tethering (or the manufacturers would like to...

mount adapter +TC+other mount lens then Seems surprising perhaps that cheaper TCs haven't appeared yet for E-mount as they don't seem exactly complicated?

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

OK, for those there is more than 1 way to skin a cat ;). Assuming that teleconverters exist for E-mount then you could also consider using a longer lens e.g. 70-300 with a tc - this will increase your focal length without changing the minimum focus distance. I know a very good nature...

First compact camera (and lens) for £500

I absolutely agree. For those days when you can't see the rear screen (maybe not too much of a problem in the UK but definitely abroad). Does it need to have interchangeable lenses?

Calling all Sony Alpha users! (Part 5)

As far as the macro what do you want to photograph & in what conditions? If things like insects that can scare then you want a long working distance so probably something like a 150mm or greater. & generally in macro you will be using manual focus which opens you up to a huge range of adapted...
