No! edited jpg's are no different to any other jpg's, they won,t confuse the camera or corrupt the memory card. as mentioned, the directory structure IS important, if the jpg's are not in the correct folder, the camera may not be able to display them.

Why did you do a low level format of your memory card? Format in camera and you might have been able to recover them. Mem cards should NOT be formatted on a pc. Deleted files on your pc should be recoverable provided they have not been over written.

Not sure what you mean about changing glass??? Sensors are NOT going to be damaged by dust or dirt as there are various layers added to the sensor, IR filters and such. Pany and Oly have the BEST sensor cleaning system available.
