    Been a while

Thanks guys, some very useful tips :) I've always been a bit guilty of oversharpening and had dialed it back quite a lot but now playing with a new processing tool I've obviously slipped back into my old ways and need to rein myself back in. The catch-lights from the octa in the centre of her...

    Been a while

Been a while since I did much photography at all. Trying to get my mojo back. This is the first time I've ever processed a shot fully in Photoshop, prior to this, all my shots have been processed using ACDSee Pro. Trying to ween myself off that and onto Photoshop. Also been experimenting with...

    Dragonflies - Communal Thread

Thanks @Brachytron Could tell it wasn't a common, but I'm still a beginner myself so good to learn another one (y)

Pretty sure that's a Female Ruddy Darter not a Common Darter, the common would have yellow stripes on it's legs too which I can't see in that shot. Although I'm no expert so happy to be wrong.

First Damsel pic of the year, not the best shot, but not too bad. Not a Damselfly expert though so honestly not sure what type it is. Damselfly by Ian, on Flickr

    Just like buses....

We get 16+ of them in the garden regularly, got to the point we had buy additional niger seed feeders as they were queueing up and squabbling over the one we had out. As others have said though, niger seed, they love the stuff, can't get enough of it and will find it if you put it out in a niger...

Another visitor we've not seen before in the garden

Pretty sure this is a juvenile Song Thrush (can anyone confirm). This little guy/girl was sat in the garden, allowed me to get quite close and just sat there while I clicked a few shots of him/her. Un-planned and in fading light, but reasonably happy with these. Comments as always welcomed...

    Unusual garden visitors

Beautiful pair of Red Legged Partridges appeared in our garden this morning. Not so much for critique as I'm aware these aren't the best shots, taken through double glazed patio doors in very poor light at 500mm end of the Sigma 150-500 but very unusual to see birds like this in the garden. We...

A Robin and a gob shot in one, what more could you want...

Thanks Bill, I'll pull both back slightly (y)

A Robin and a gob shot in one, what more could you want...

Thanks for the nice feedback guys, was reasonably happy with this one for once :) Agreed, but unfortunately not something I could really do much about, he was perched in the middle of a big bush, I asked him nicely to move to a better position, but he just ignored me and kept singing for some...

A Robin and a gob shot in one, what more could you want...

Out walking yesterday with Amy round Wicken Fen when this little guy appeared singing his heart out. Although I realise Robins aren't particularly popular on here, does the gob shot make it forgivable lol :p C&C welcomed. Robin by Ian-Highlander, on Flickr

Used D90 and good lens, or new D5200 and kit lens?

The D90's still an extremely capable camera by any standards. I upgraded from a D90 to a D7100 but as Mark said above, decided to keep it because quite frankly it's worth naff all really and if I ever wanted another body I couldn't replace it with anything better for the money I'd get from it...

Nikon D810, grey 'vs' UK stock

I was told by them that they would honour the one year warranty but not the extended three year one. Indeed my D7100 grey import is registered with them for that purpose.
