    Recommended Heavy Duty Background Stand

the standard on big advertising shoots is a scaffolding pole, two double windup stands, and two big ben clamps. That lot does weigh 60kg and cost best part of a grand, mind. But bombproof.

    Night time runners

If they're running under streetlights, you'll want to gel your flash. I'd suggest to experiment with 1/2 and full CTO. Probably 1/2, so the streetlights still look orange in comparison.

    LED lighting in theatres

I'm a bit surprised to hear this to be honest, where I've used LED source 4s I've been pretty impressed by their performance and lack of flicker. So LEDs generally dim by being turned on and off very quickly, called Pulse Wave Modulation, so it depends on the speed that the fixture is doing...

    Lighting advice for today

your best bet is probably to have a single head on a stand that you can bounce up onto a ceiling as appropriate, but mainly work with natural light. Have some CTO (particularly half) on hand to balance if you're matching nasty indoor tungsten.

Nikon Z7 - is there any stock in the UK?

A colleague has one, so they do physically exist :) Good luck - nikon never seem to manage to meet pro demand on release, they'll trickle through soon enough. I'm torn between hurrying up for the free xqd, or waiting 6 months...

    Profoto B10

I was going to get an A1, I'll probably get one of these instead so it can take mods. Not much cheaper than a B1, mind... and the smartphone control app seems a right faff, one of those 'show off' features noone will ever use cos it's easier just to walk to the light 99% of the time...
