    Beginner Shutter speed feedback (question)

Hi Mani, Yes the shot is slightly over exposed but but only by 1/3 of a stop I think. If you did change the shutter speed to 100 instead of 160 that would lengthen the exposure and let in MORE light, resulting in an even brighter photo. Remember the higher the number the shorter the exposure...

    Beginner One shot focus

All the different focus modes are there for different scenarios so it depends what your shooting. Keep things simple to start with. Been shooting professionally for 12 years now and 95% of the time I just two settings AFS-S for stationary subjects or AFS-C for moving subjects.

    Beginner One shot focus

Glad you found the problem. It's an easy mistake to make when learning. I must say that using BBF may be over complicating it for what you are trying to do. Personally I only use it if shooting fast moving subjects like sport, otherwise it's all on the shutter button. Have fun shooting.

    Beginner One shot focus

This could be one of several things. The first thing I would check is that I'm doing everything right. Focus technique. As Sky mentioned, when using BBF you need to keep your finger on the button. When you take it off and press again the camera will refocus. In AFS-S mode the camera needs...

Beginner My beginners set up - thoughts?

For landscapes you will want a lens that can shoot wide angle. As a beginner the 18-55mm will be fine for learning, without spending loads. For action shots of the dog you will want a fast shutter speed and that's where the f2.8 comes in. I would probably want to shoot longer than 55mm though...

    light painting

If you want an indoor project you can do on a table top, how about use the glow sticks to light something simple and make it look interesting. Perhaps hang a couple of glow sticks on a piece of string and have it spin round a wine bottle or even pair of scissors. Reflective objects always work...

Beginner My beginners set up - thoughts?

It all depends on the budget and what your wife is looking to shoot, ie landscape, portraiture or an all rounder lens. I agree with woof woof that a f2.8 would be a better choice if going for a mid zoom lens like 18-55 but only spend the extra if you are . The 24-105 may be a good all rounder...

How do you manage the weight of a 70-200 2.8 is II?

If you use the included 70-200 lens foot to attach it to your monopod you can keep the strap attached to the camera. When I am shooting weddings or corporate events with my 70-200 VR lens, I use a black rapid strap and a monopod simultaneously all the time. For quick change over I keep the...
