    Sport shooters. f2.8 or f4?

Yep, correct. I meant that with the D3s you get a a better AF system and high-ISO when I said "but you lose that AF accuracy and a stop of high ISO"; my fault for not being clear. Although TBH I think 1.5 stops is a bit hopeful, since your working a 16.7 vs 12 mpixel image. At a 100% crop...

    Sport shooters. f2.8 or f4?

300mm f/2.8 with 1.3x crop offers the same framing and seperation as a 400mm f/4 on full frame. (more or less). So on a 1DIV you could be at 300mm f/2.8, 6400 and get the same shots as the Nikon shooter with a 420mm f/4 at 12800! (or 12800 at 600mm f/5.6 and 6400, 420mm, f/4) Essentially with...

    Shooting opportunities in the midlands....

Mallory, Silverstone, Donnington, Hillclimbs, Santa Pod. Should be in reach. I'd like to see other suggestions too; especially MX venues!

    Does this work?

The Newey GT40 was only really trying out the PP. When I posted the original I did say thats it a franky dull original I took with the high key in mind. But if your still wanting to post on this stuff then here's some of the creative stuff I've tried (all from hillclimbs so single cars on old...

    Does this work?

I'm looking at these today - what did I do to the first one. Too many beers!? Although many won't like the second one - I do and therefore that idea stays. The first idea was rubbish. What was I thinking! (BTW it wasn't overexposed in the first place - I did it all in post... original jpeg...

    Does this work?

I was thinking to myself today. Aside from a couple of the F1 shooters (like darren heath for example) generally motorsport photography is treated as a journalistic/documentary form of photography (which it is!). But who says you can't try to make it more art than documentary. I'm not the best...

Light area on images shot on 1DS MK3

IF you shoot at 1/60th or there abouts you'll probably notice no real line - untill 1/200th ish. If thats the case - dead/dying shutter. You'll notice it most at high speeds like 1/2000th.

    Classic F1 '66-'85 at Silverstone.

Yeah, the amount of fencing doesn't really allow for burst shooting, you just have to fire when you hit the gap, in a 20 min race using two location you only really get three laps - my plan was abbey for 8 mins (Lap plan - 1/160th, 1/100th, 1/100th, 1/60th, 1/60th) 4 mins to walk to the far part...

Why does no one care about photos of drivers?

^ I agree with all the above posters. I also think that outside F1 and MotoGP (and a few of the touring cars and superbike riders) they are generally pretty unknown when they remove the helmet!!! Actually thinking about it, if you look at the work Getty produce for F1 you'll notice A LOT...

    Classic F1 '66-'85 at Silverstone.

Great to see some older F1 cars out on track. I was amazed how hard the drivers actually pushed. I was expecting a procession/parade (like modern F1 ). Actually some real GT style moves out there. Anyways enough waffle, the pics!... 1 - Mmm... triangles. Probably split opinion here...

Some motor cross at my local track

I like 3, perhaps some fill flash (so long as it isn't off-putting and you have enough power in the gun) would help (something like this? - I've used shadows/highlights to recover the foreground)... Also you could try and pan the camera right 20 or so degrees so the rider is on the lower...
