You are correct. f4.5 is an expression of focal length divided by aperture. In this case it's 400mm focal length and a ~88mm aperture (entrance pupil), so it physically can't be smaller than that. Entrance pupil determines a minimum size, but doesn't fully determine a lens. A full frame lens...

FWIW I went XT3 to XT5 and was merely "whelmed". It was good, but didn't feel much of a step up performance wise. The main plus was the resolution, but that comes with it's own compromises, like lenses not holding up, shake being more apparent (somewhat helped by ibis, but it was still a thing)...

Same here. I've found the menus fine tbh, especially as each entry has help text to explain what it does. It's all in the initial setup for Sony. Once you've set it up how you want it you rarely have to open a menu again. I can imagine people who aren't too tech savvy struggling with them -...
