Would the sigma auto focus on my D3100? Can it be used for macro? I have found I like to use the kit lens for that.

I currently have a NIKON D3100 with the kit lens. I think I will end up with the 35mm f1.8 sometime this year. I was wondering whether it would be beneficial for me to change my kit lens for a 18-105 or the 18-70. Or is it not worth it? Thanks James
