Kenya. Amboseli + Mara. Principally Cheetahs.

Shutter Speed is my main learning from my time in the local woods. Am now following the rules of a minimum shutter speed dependant on focal length, much more than I did in Kenya. Spent to much time purely focused on Av mode, not knowing or watching shutter speed. I had many soft softs. All my...

Kenya. Amboseli + Mara. Principally Cheetahs.

Bill Appreciate the comments, that is why I am posting. I am currently spending a lot of time reading articles on wildlife photography, also spending time in my local woods taking picture of birds and small wildlife in variable light. trying to improve my technique, what you have said mirrors...

Kenya. Amboseli + Mara. Principally Cheetahs.

This particular Cheetah(same as above.) was known to the local Maasai by the nickname of Supermum. She has successfully raised 5 cubs to the age of approx 10 months which is quite an excellent survival rate for the cubs. Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Maasai Mara. Sept 2014. Canon 70D...

Kenya. Amboseli + Mara. Principally Cheetahs.

My initial original post on this forum so any help/guidance appreciated. Since I retired, I am lucky enough to be able to travel to some nice destinations, principally with a wildlife intent. Prior to my recent trip to Kenya(1st time), I invested in a couple of DSLRs. Canon 70D(100-400L) and...

    Safari - Tripod?

Really will depend on how much space in vehicle of if you plan to do walking on your safai trip. Also at some of the camps,it is possible to get good shots from within the safety of the lodge environment. This is a site I frequent, with a recent discussion on same issue...

What the most popular lens you guys used for bird images

That is of great help thanks. Interesting that you prefer both lenses minus the 1.4 TC. People do say that the TC and the 70-200 do go very well together both on the f/4 and f/2.8. A lot of my time will be spent on vehicle based safaris,so I have also had a good luck at the 100-400. I was in...

    Safari in Kenya 2014

Thanks Kevin. Good deal. Leopards are always the most difficult of the large cats to find and then get a decent opportunity to get a good photo. Just means you will have to go back!!!!!!!! On another forum I haunt "Safaritalk" ,somebody has just posted a good Leopard video. Hopefully I will...

    Super tele zooms ?

HDEW currently have the 400mm f/5.6 on offer for £829. I have not seen it lower anywhere else. If I could make my mind up between going either Canon or Sony dslr,I think I would have bought it by now.

What the most popular lens you guys used for bird images

I will be using mine for mainly vehicle safaris. Sometimes walking safaris as well. That is why I think the 300mm F4 might give me more flexibility. With the 1.4 ext for longer reach and birds in a bush.... Still cannot decide which way to go on the new camera as well. Canon makes a lot of...
