Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

Pictures to eventually follow, but I can now confirm that there is no vignetting when using the X100F + Filter Adapter Ring + CPL + Nisi 49mm Square Filter Holder for Ricoh GR3. It is MUCH slimmer than the “X100” version. I tested for vignetting with my very svelte Breakthrough CPL (the holder...

All of which are significantly bulkier/heavier than the unsealed X-S10, so I maintain that for a travel setup you are sort of left with one or the other. Really only mentioned because with Olympus you do not have to make that choice.

I would not go Fuji just to use the 18-135. I had one for a little while and found it pretty disappointing — nowhere near the IQ of 18-55+55-200 (the combination weighs just 400g more than the 18-135). If going for Fuji, you do also have to choose either IBIS or weather sealing when it comes to...

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

At this time I think the best solution to square filters + PL filter for the X100 series is to buy the Nisi kit for the Ricoh GR3 or GR3x instead of the Nisi kit for the Fujifilm X100. I'll confirm this once I get one. The GR3 version has male 49mm threads on the back with no spacer, versus the...

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

I've bought this super chunky old Pentax linear PL filter (10mm thick). Unfortunately, clearance to the lens front is barely better than it is with my super slim Breakthrough CPL (4mm thick) mounted in reverse, though of course the CPL does not polarise when mounted backwards. Close focus is...

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

I have taken some measurements and have determined that my setup at 17mm total length (as measured from the base of the male filter threads) is 5mm too long. A bit of vignetting persists if I make it 5mm shorter but it is manageable, only in one corner (bottom right), and only appears when the...

    The General Drone-Related Thread

Fantastic shots! I was only 20 miles away from there that day "as the drone flies" but was shrouded in thick fog the entire time. It was so dense that my Mini 2's downward position sensors kept putting the drone into landing mode whenever I pulled down on the stick, even when it was 50 feet up...

    The General Drone-Related Thread

I think I'll probably go the Mini 3 route for now (versus the Air 2S/Mavic 2 Pro) since I think the small image quality difference will be worth the tradeoff for the freedom of a <249g drone. In addition I think I'll get a Mavic 3, because that's the maximum IQ achievable whilst maintaining some...

    The General Drone-Related Thread

That's really good to know to blend later. I use Capture One but I have never used the blend function. I take a small amount of pride in that every photo I have ever shot has been the result of a single press of the shutter button! I think the image sensor size difference between the Mavic 2...

    The General Drone-Related Thread

I am still learning the sensor but I have taken some shots where I really expected to be able to pull the highlights back down but they ended up being blown. I could have underexposed more, but pushing the shadows up even a little results in a lot of noise. I think the Mini 2's sensor just...

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

I should also note that in my opinion the "medium" GND is pretty hard. They also make a "soft" GND which is probably more like medium, but I don't have one yet (out of stock).

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

That would be massive on an X100. For reference, the big filter in my picture in post #7 is 85mm x 110mm and that is already practically the same size as the camera itself! I think the Lee 100 grad filters are 100mm x 150mm. Size of the Nisi for reference.

Review Nisi Filter System for Fujifilm X100 Series and Other Compact Cameras

Were you looking at the Lee Seven5? I don't personally understand that system as it is too small to use with any "real" camera but way bigger and more expensive than this new Nisi system. I use the Firecrest 85mm system for my Fuji X-T3, and even that is too small to avoid vignetting at 10mm...

The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Hello fellow Fujilovers. I just posted a quick review of the Nisi filter kit for X100 series cameras, I figure perhaps there might be some interest from this community. https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/nisi-filter-system-for-fujifilm-x100-series-cameras.745747/
