Something to replace my Canon 18-55mm IS lens

Yep, the jury is still out on the 17-55. I've had a good trial with it. I really loved the 85mm f/1.8 I rented the week before, it seemed to compliment my 60D compared to my 50mm. Thanks to other poster for posting the Ken Rockwell review as well. :)

Something to replace my Canon 18-55mm IS lens

Hey to all. I'm renting the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 from Lenses for Hire and it's a beast. Im putting it to the test this weekend for group portraiture. It does seem to be the most desired lens in general. I've see it for sale at £576 on eBay 2nd hand and 609 on MBP. If I'm convinced by Monday...

best way to approach strangers on the street!

Watching that video really gives you the courage to go out and do it. It's fuelled some new ideas for me that's for sure. Thanks for posting it! :D

best way to approach strangers on the street!

This thread caught my eye. Oh hello again BTW have been skulking around many areas of t'net. Ahem, so I was intrigued by this thread as I was thinking of doing something similar for the locals in my area in light of Olympic mania and as an art project. I'm already searching out my...

    Canon Lenses via Amazon Deals

Again, thanks for all the advice. I will keep tabs for Amazon's Black Friday week for any shift on prices. In the mean time I think this company looks pretty reputable: http://www.lensesforhire.co.uk/ I need to work with an improved lens, especially after yesterday's shoot indoors under...

    Help with photoshop....

Hello Dave, Couple of options. For simplicity, you could blur the edges of the baby when you put s/he in place. Or do two layers of baby, the top layer baby lock in place, the one underneath enlarge only slightly and then make layer transparent to about 5-10% and then blur, also shift slightly...

    Canon Lenses via Amazon Deals

No I don't recall asking that at all. I do understand the difference between the two. :) As you had queried: I replied is there such a thing as an amateur wedding shoot? In jest. Unless by amateur, you mean unpaid, or you might mean "not as highly skilled" as an experienced tog. In any...

    Canon Lenses via Amazon Deals

Is there such a thing as an amateur wedding shoot? Sorry, couldn't resist. Mind you there can amateur results... Thanks for the lens tips Andy. Having got one wedding shoot under my belt, my chief concern is the light issue. There is a trend for lomo/glare style wedding shots which seems more...

    Canon Lenses via Amazon Deals

A lot to hash over and there's been some great responses. I know I'm asking a lot in a single lens and if I could afford a 17-55 f2.8 or the 24-105 f4 L, then they would be satisfactory purchases. With two weddings booked next year, in & outdoors, maybe I should hire the lenses. I have the 50mm...

Just popped in to say Hi!

Hello again, yes I'm really glad this forum exists. I can only class myself as an artist working mostly in photography now. I've decided to take advantage of Mark Clegorn's tutorials mostly, although I read PhotoTuts+, Michael Freeman and as many blogs my family time will allow! My dream is to...

    Calendar Shoot

Cheers Phil for the comment. :) These are unposed and "in the moment style" images. I guess it's the exposure, DOF etc. that I'm seeking to make sure looks right :)

    Calendar Shoot

Am preparing a calendar gift for the Granndparents of my Son, Daughter and baby Nephew. I usually spend ages with adjustments, crops etc, so I wanted to show you these as natural shots without PP. Look forward to your C+Cs. 1. KR_GC2011 by Kate_71, on Flickr 2. KR_GC2011 by Kate_71, on...
