Probably because the syllabus says so - Most of these courses were probably written about 20 years ago and have not really changed to fit in with modern technology.
A friend took a basic course last year and this was split roughly 50/50 film and digital so maybe things are changing.

Don't worry about going over the £18 - as long as any one item is under this price they will ship in seperate packages to ensure they are under the vat limit - Do allow a week(ish) for delivery though.
I can understand the need to book up a meal or Christmas party early, but it's just the fact that the big stores start 'imposing' it on us in September :cuckoo:

I've been using Peak Imaging for years and have never had a problem. Films always come back in a few days well packaged and spotless. I only tend to use them for E6 & B&W developing though, not for prints or scans.

I was hoping the 5D MkII (or whatever it may be called) will be announced at Photokina, or just before - if it is then yes the 5D will be discontinued.
