Why? I don't and so far everything has worked OK. At the end of the day, if you have a CPL then try it on a few shots then look in post and see what it has done, it's the easiest way to find out :)

I use CPL on and off but this season I have used them more, I personally stick the filter on set the polarity by looking through the view finder then slap the lens hood on an leave it alone. I use Auto ISO so don't have an issue if I loose a stop or two, works for me and I think it helps...

Nikon F801? If you click the shutter when no film is loaded does it sound like the advance is working? If so then the film has not caught on the roller and hence fails to load. If the film is far enough across and is not being taken up then it could be the motor has failed.

I only use the Apple Mouse but none of the programs you have. Have you looked in the System Settings to access the Mouse and configure it? Usually you can get the Mouse to mimic what MS Mice can do.
