Should I sell all my gear...

I think you're really a bit hard on yourself alfaholic ;-). I see your motivation problem (I had the same) but in terms of photographic skills, I have seen much worse photos from people thinking highly of themselves! Even the photos you dislike display a certain coherence between them which is...

Should I sell all my gear...

You say you like other people's photos. What sort of photos do you like most? If, say, you like portraits, I suggest you design yourself a project around that. Imagine you are going to publish a book with 50 photos around that theme (give it a title and everything). For example, you could decide...

    Hello from Anglesey

Hi Gav, welcome! You surely live in a nice place for landscape photography (and many other things). I go to Anglesey at least twice a month for a paddle :-).

What drove or inspired you to take up photography?

My father was a keen photographer and let me use his SLR when I was a teenager. What fascinated me, and still does, is the capacity to isolate a single moment in time. Is still find that pretty surreal.

    Is The Art...?

Good question! In my opinion, anything is allowed, as long as we are honest about it, especially in genres like nature or documentary photography. But I think it is never a good idea to waste time on trying to improve an average shot. In my opinion, if the content isn't there you can add as many...

    Take camera or not?

Hi Iren, here is another vote for just your camera + the 50mm lens. I have a closet full of gear, and tend to use just a body + 50mm for cities nowadays... it's liberating! When I take too much gear my mindset is on trying to shoot "everything" and usually that ends with lots of mediocre...

Inspiration when the weather is miserable?

For street photography I actually prefer poor weather. Low contrast files taken under an overcast sky are great to work with, and I find them perfect for B&W portraits. A wet city has a shine to it which I often prefer over textbook perfect light which, for me, stimulates creativity less and...

Hello from both sides of the Mersey

Thanks! For now I have some photos on my website (photo.daout.net) but I'll post some new ones here for sure [emoji3].

Hello from both sides of the Mersey

Oooh, red or blue, tricky question ;-). It's a photography forum so I'd say, as a non scouser, I'd be happy to shoot either! ;-) Meeting up sounds good at some point!

Hello from both sides of the Mersey

I work in Liverpool and live on the Wirral - most of my photos have been from the Liverpool side. Photography-wise I have a fairly strong preference for anything with people... portraits, social, street. But I can enjoy other genres as well! This looks like a nice forum :-). Kris
