Geekom Mini Computers Versus Mac Mini

It doesn't, however the tiny form factor usually necessitates significant thermal limits on the processor, meaning they will under perform vs a proper desktop. Anyways, it's a free world, just trying to provide some additional considerations for you.

Geekom Mini Computers Versus Mac Mini

A couple of thoughts... Unless the mini format is essential, avoid it. You end up with lower spec for the money because of the required compromises and custom motherboards. Time now is a terrible time to upgrade unfortunately due to the record high memory prices off the back of the AI craze...

    AI in Post Processing

The denoise is a godsend for me since I'm often shooting sports indoors at 6k/8k/10k iso. Less often but a great time saver I'll use the AI masking. Content aware fill is a path of last resort for me, I try to set things up so I don't need to edit content in an image, so it get used if I mess up.

    DXO better than Adobe?

About 6 months ago I went over to DxO and haven't looked back. Main perks for me are no subscription, no catalog file to sync and manage, better denoise (I shoot a lot at 8k iso and above). Without a doubt there's a transition learning curve, less third party plugins support etc but I'm...

    Linux Mint

Yea even with the increase in growth in the last eyar or so I I've read (take with a pinch of salt!) that Linux is only about 5% share of the global desktop OS use.

    Lens/Camers storage - Dry Cabinets

This is something I've never even contemplated - doesn't this matter for weather sealed gear in a typical home?

    Linux Mint

I'm now firmly a Cachyos daily driver but keeping W11 dual boot for photo editing, CAD and gaming. Lightroom classic has firmly gone for me, I've gone fully over to DxO photolab with the added bonus that my backup sizes now reduced as I can backup the original RAW file rather than DNG, a...

    What GPUs

AM5 has just been confirmed as having two more Ryzen generations so could be a good move.

Recommend me a Linux distro and photo editing software ... please!

I've looked at doing this, the things that have put me off are: - no lightroom classic - no pureraw support (I regularly shoot at 12800+ so want to denoise)

    What GPUs

4080 Super. Takes about 3-5 seconds per image. Using PureRAW.

PC Cases and cooling for Graphics Cards

Where have you heard it's bad for cooling? Typically the riser mounts are the worst due to proximity to the side of the case and reduced Airflow.

    Does DDR5 help Lightroom?

The point being made is the DDR4 and DDR5 modules are physically different. You won't really notice a difference in performance but if you buy DDR4 it won't fit!

PC Upgrade - minimum Intel gen for good Lightroom performance ?

If you're going to use some of the newer features then yes e.g. Denoise
