Quick way to get photos from cell phone to laptop?

You may need to tell the phone to work as a "USB File transfer" device in the settings. That might solve the "phone not talking to the computer" problem. A potentially helpful link here: https://support.google.com/android/answer/9064445?hl=en-GB#zippy=%2Cwindows-computer%2Cmac-computer

Looking for MS Office - how can some sellers sell so cheaply?

I rather like my 365 subscription, and the 1Tb of storage is a nice bonus part of the package. I am a massive Excel nerd, though, and tend to use some of the features that aren't in the free alternatives. Clipchamp is a nice recent addition. I do get a 25% discount via a coprorate scheme, which...

    Free video editing software?

I've used Clipchamp pretty effectively for some relatively simple stuff. You have to pay to export in 4k, but it's free otherwise.

    Will this PC do?

I guess I've not explained myself very well. I was kind of expecting similar replies to those in this thread: https://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/is-this-pc-likely-to-be-any-good-with-the-latest-lightroom.754281/ The PC as it is runs very smoothly and reasonably fast - boot up from...

    Will this PC do?

I'm not sure what all the clean out replies are about, but thanks for the advice. The current PC runs very cleanly, and for the most part quickly enough but is very old now - BIOS is from 2011. Here's the config: Win10 Pro - can't update to Win11 and support running out in October 2025, not...

    Will this PC do?

My current Dell XPS is about 12 years old and, depite adding SSD, more memory and a better graphics card a few years ago, is getting slow for Capture One stuff. This is my third Outlet bought Dell and they've served me well, each lasting more than 10 years. Looking at this spec for £1,473 XPS...

    Where's all the Apple speed?

My trusty old Thinkpad from that era (2013) is whizzing along nicely, especially with its SSD replacement for the original HDD.

Forget GAS for cameras -- how about those bags?!

I stated with a K&F Concept backpack, which is actually very good and I keep my "video" kit in it now (Sony A6300 plus 18-135 lens with Ronin mount attached). https://www.amazon.co.uk/Concept-Lightweight-Backpack-Resistant-Multipurpose/dp/B01MCRTITT Paid £42.99 I then got an Amazon Basics...

Cheap apple laptop for saving images when traveling

I use an old Chromebook. Light, super, super cheap and easy to use.

    Peak Design Capture clip

I see what you mean. It's pretty awkward f the camera is on a backpack shoulder strap. For belt mounting, as the OP wants to use it, I imagine it's easier one handed, but I'd not recommend it! :)

    Peak Design Capture clip

I've not had any problems at all with mine on various rucksacks carrying my A6500 and various lenses. I've actually used two clips - one for the camera and one utilising the Lens Kit, although this was all using a backpack but hopefully still relevant. I've hiked around Yosemite and the...

Need to record wedding ceremony and speeches - camera recommendations, please

I've found a Panasonic VXF1 for £410 delivered which I'm sure will do the job very nicely. I'm sure I'll be able to sell it on afterwards if I want,so it'll be minimal cost. Thanks for your help, everyone.

Need to record wedding ceremony and speeches - camera recommendations, please

Thanks very much everyone. We are very much on a budget, so a professional is not really an option. We have a professional photographer. We are not spring chickens so the wedding is more of a party than the traditional "white wedding". I've done filming for a few friends over the years...

Need to record wedding ceremony and speeches - camera recommendations, please

Hi all, i'm getting married in October and will be getting a couple of friends to record proceedings. I was going to use my Sony A6300 and A6500 but both have an overheating time of 20 mins for 4k, and 30 mins for HD. I therefore need something else - would a standard camcorder fit the bill...
