    Growing up

Thank you. My thing too I guess, it’s an old spot that I find myself drawn to at this time of year. Not a lot done to this other than to remove a distraction in the background. Thanks very much

A different subject for a change

Sadly this old girl is terminally poorly and so I was asked whether I could take a picture or two. First animal portrait for me ... 1. 2.

    Growing up

Haven't been shooting much this year, again, but had a wander with the camera on Sunday as it was this little lady's birthday.

    Another year, another go

Thanks and sorry for the late reply. It’s the lastolite tri grip clamp, great accessory for a tri grip reflector.

Believe me, it’s not easy to get what I want between the ‘playing up’ and silliness.

Wish I had a studio (home portrait attempt, pull back shot added)

Great little set. Love the pullback, it’s great to see what little you got away with. Only crit, which is personal preference, is the vignette. I’d probably keep these light and airy.

Thanks. Usual studio settings really: 1/160, f/10, iso100. It’s all about getting your lighting placed where you want it. I use a light meter initially for speed, to get the power right, but I’m normally in the ball-park with my familiar modifiers and chimping is quick enough. Key light is quick...

    Elinchrom D-lite 1 - firing problems

My d-lites are probably 8-10 years old and still going strong. Occasionally I get a period of mis-firing but I haven’t really sussed the issue (sorry). I usually turn off, remove the remote and go again. There’s part of me that thinks there’s a dead spot with connectivity as it happens low down...

    Sisterly Love

Super shot, one to treasure. Always found that getting the position of the light right for shots on the floor tricky, but you’ve nailed it.

    Another year, another go

Hi Coho, well given the ages of your grandchildren, you have plenty of time to practice and add bits as you go, if you enjoy it. Getting the lighting right is 95% of the image, the rest is the polishing in pp so it is vitally important. You don’t need to go mad, these were taken with one light...

Final pic from the session but this is absolutely 'her' so a good family snap.

Be really great if she does! You're welcome. I like to do it as it really helped me at the start.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Other people's children are much easier to work with. Ultimately I find myself too close to the whole image in every sense that you end up feeling that you've not quite accomplished the task in mind. I only set out for one stand-out image and so that was...
