Thanks, the space was actually quite hard, there was a lot of people there, so I had to crop out heads, big AWS foam boards and all sorts but most of them thankfully ended up fairly well. Trackside was a pain, the place was heaving on Sunday and I spent a lot of it with very small window to pan...

So this was my first foray into motorsport photography, still learning to use my D750, 200-500 and Lightroom, but I feel like I got some great results this weekend. Started off with some pretty fast settings to capture some sharp images of the cars and then got a bit more creative as the day...

The reason I took some shots with that busy foreground is because otherwise you never get a perspective of size, all these mightily impressive jets taxing past me and in the photos they just end up looking like planes, but in this one of the Qatar I took, I think you get a real sense of size...

Went back to Etherow, tried to find the Heron/Kingfisher and had no luck. So I walked to Brabyns park to see if I could find the Kingfisher there, nothing. Oh dear! Done 18,200 steps though so at least I got some exercise in. Managed to get a closer shot of a Mandarin again, got some more...

Amazing, thanks Mike. Familiar with all those places and as weird as it is I saw the Kingfisher (and a group of photographers) when I went there completely spontaneously on Sunday. It was hanging around the little pond as you enter, on the left. Might get back there sometime soon.

Any other local areas you'd recommend? Itching to get out as much as I can. The lens you had looked bloody massive, I thought mine was cumbersome to carry around.
