Thanks for responding - it seems like I should bite the bullet and get the Sony with the FE 85mm 1.8 and see how it goes. If I feel the need for more speed or I'm not happy with the bokeh I can always sell it and get the 1.4 I suppose. Then if the Nikon 85mm Z comes out and it's the best lens...

thanks for all the comments and suggestions - it's given me a few more angles of research I need to study before coming to a decision. There's so much good stuff out there it will probably come down to the lenses I'll use the most - one wide angle and one 85mm. And money!
